About Us

St Johns germantown churchspring1St John is a part of the United Church of Christ, a mainline Protestant denomination. We believe that “God is Still Speaking”. By this we mean that we continue to hear and interpret the sacred scriptures as they apply to our lives and world today. We seek to listen and watch for God’s creative revelation in our world. While our faith is 2,000 years old, our thinking is not, We believe that science and religion can coexist and we encourage you to bring your whole self to worship. At this church, you do not need to check your brain at the door.

We believe in an extravagant welcome. No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here. Our savior, Jesus Christ did not turn anyone away and neither will we.

We believe that faith is not something to be attained but a journey to be traveled. We continue to challenge one another to grow in our faith as we seek to be partners with God in bringing about God’s will for our world. We are committed to social justice, fighting oppression, being responsible stewards of God’s creation, and encouraging all to live into the fullness of life that Christ offers. We desire to assist you in your journey, whether as a resting place or as a traveling companion.
