Mission Alive

At the core of who we are, Christians are called to serve as modeled by Christ. This means reaching out to serve individuals in many spheres of influence: in the church, the community, the country, and the world. We do this through a variety of missions targeted at serving those whom Christ loves: the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the lonely, the sick.

“Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”
-Matthew 25:40 (NRSV)

The pantry’s mission is to gather and distribute food to those with acute or chronic need who live in the greater Menomonee Falls area.  They strive to raise awareness of hunger in our community and provide volunteer opportunities for community members to serve one another.

Feel free to bring items on Sunday or during office hours.

St. Ben’s Community Meal

http://www.stbenscommunitymeal.org

On the second Monday of each month we have a small but faithful group that volunteers at St. Benedict the Moor’s in downtown Milwaukee to serve meals to anyone that needs them. We generally gather at St. Ben’s at 4:30 to help set-up. Then we help with beverages, tables, and dishes. Volunteers are encouraged to perform a Ministry of Presence:  to sit with our guests, engage them in conversation, meet them on their terms, and share your experiences. That is the greatest gift one person can give to another: to be wholly present, to listen, to be attentive, to show you care. The meal runs from 5pm-6:30pm.

Referred to as Milwaukee’s largest regular potluck dinner, the Community Meal is served six nights a week, Sunday to Friday, from 5:15 to 6:30. As it gets later in the month, our number of guests coming to St. Ben’s Community Meal increase as payroll or welfare checks have been depleted. All who are in need of food…a friendly face….a caring smile… are welcome.

St. Ben’s is a Capuchin social justice ministry, feeding Milwaukee’s chronically poor and homeless. Interfaith organizations provide over 2,000 homemade meals a week. We feed hungry while treating each of them with respect and dignity.
